Phytowelt diversifies its service portfolio as from November 2015. By renting fully air-conditioned and IT-controlled High-tech greenhouse facilities, the company is now able to cultivate plants under optimal, strictly regulated environments. Starting with key crops like wheat, barley and triticale, other species (rapeseed, vegetables, woody species and ornamentals) will follow soon.

With more than 300,000 members this is a club, which takes the liberty to leave the beaten track in order to rethink and follow new tracks. Dr Peter Welters from Phytowelt is one of them and his company has therefore been chosen by the Querdenker-Club as one of five finalists in the category "Sustainability".

The company Phytowelt GreenTechnologies GmbH from Nettetal, Germany, is among the finalists competing for the German Economy Prize for Innovation 2012/2013 in the category “Midsize Companies”. The platform technology “phytodiversity” enables the fusion of plant cells for the purpose of accelerating the breeding process so that selected traits which would be difficult to obtain by other breeding methods may be transferred into plants – without the need for gene technology.
